Biographical Sketch

The Buxton National Historic Site & Museum has recently announced the appointment of Michelle Robbins as its new Curator. Michelle is a proud 7th Generation Descendant of the Buxton Settlement and was born and raised in North Buxton. With almost 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Michelle has a proven track record of excellence in her field and a strong passion for the Buxton community.


As the Assistant Curator since 2022, Michelle has gained invaluable experience and knowledge about the Museum's inner workings. She is excited to take on the role of Curator and continue the proud legacy of those who have come before her. With her extensive expertise in Black History and her unwavering dedication to the community, Michelle is well-equipped to lead the Museum into a new era of growth and development.


Michelle is not only committed to her work at the Museum but also to the community at large. She is an active volunteer and serves on several boards, including the Thamesview Family Health Team, Linck Foundation, and Chatham Cultural Centre Association. Michelle's love for the area is evident, and she resides in Chatham-Kent with her partner Kevin, daughter Layla (Buggs), and their two dogs, Carter and Kob.


In her new role as Curator, Michelle is excited to share Black History, Our History with all visitors to the Museum. She looks forward to welcoming you to the Buxton National Historic Site & Museum and showcasing the rich history of the Buxton community.
