"Footsteps to Freedom", is a series of unique educational programs and teaching resources related to the Underground Railroad and to the Buxton Settlement. It has been designed for school students from grades 1 to 10. |

The community continues to exist today, peopled by the descendants of those first fugitives, and was recognized as a National Historic Site by the government of Canada in 1999. |
