CDRom with several resources pertaining to the Buxton Settlement and the Underground Railway. These include maps, stories, power point presentations, newspaper, scrapbook entries, links to web sites etc. Also included on the CDRom are extensive files on the people of Buxton, organized to allow students to research the grandchildren of the original settlers who came as fugitives, They will be able to trace these people back to their origins in the United States, and forward to the present. Through this research and other related activities, students will learn about the early settlements in Canada West for the fugitives of slavery, and track their contributions and those of their descendants to the present time. They will learn of the hardships surmounted by the fugitives who made Buxton their home, while they were escaping freedom, and while settling in a new land.
